I'm A Lumberjack...

The easiest things to make in Northrend tailoring are shirts. The trainer gives you the green workman's shirt and the yellow lumberjack shirt recipes. There are six more recipes dropped in Northrend that most people blowing through there won't have. If you don't have some of these, I would suggest killing two birds with one stone, possibly even three. Work on Argent Tournament dailies, get cloth, and get drops all at the same time! These patterns drop from about everything level 79-81 in Northrend.

As it turns out, to even complete this post the way I like to, I needed to do exactly that, so I flew out to the Argent Tournament and grabbed some dailies. I refuse to do the jousting quests, because no loot! After doing all the non-vehicle quests (kissing frogs, unlocking cages, killing lots of undead), I still didn't have enough Frostweave. I mounted up and flew to the best frostweave farming area I know, southeast of Corprethar near Icecrown Citadel.

Lots of Frostweave in here!

Clearing the level 80 elite mobs in here nets me between 25 and 40 pieces of cloth, a lot of greys, and sometimes a green or three. They respawn rather quickly, so you can get what you need in a few minutes. The only downside to this location is that EVERYONE knows about it.  I was thinking about sticking around past filling my need for cloth, but as I waited for the next respawn someone materialized in front of me, probably with the same intentions. I left with what I had, but I will go back again when the need arises.

Another item that is fairly easy to make is the Cloak of the Moon. There is another that shares this art, the Cloak of Frozen Spirits, but it takes one more bolt of Frostweave, so why waste the cloth?

These are just the easily made items from Northrend. Tomorrow I will look into items that take a little more farming or some auction house luck. Hope you are raking in the gold faster than I am!

Fun With Netherweave!

Blizzard has been touting the old raid instances lately, and this week they reminded us that Karazhan is still around that we really should go in there and try for a mount and some transmog gear. I didn't need a reminder, because I would run this place daily if I could, but they did post a helpful bit on how to beat the chess event solo, which I usually skip.  Still, what drops the most in Karazhan is a toss up between Netherweave Cloth and Soul Essence, which together can make a few really nice items.

Imbued Netherweave Robe.
This is rather cheaply made, all from items you can get in Karazhan. Sells for more than a bag for about twice the materials.

Soulcloth Gloves.
Instead of vendoring the Soul Essences, have them made into Soulcloth and whip a few pairs of these up! They look great with many robes, and if you have a long sleeved robe, only the gold part shows for an easy match to almost everything. There is a see through hole just under the purple cuff that, if paired with a good bracer, can accent the set you are wearing (I put a cheap green colored bracer under Halinka's so it matches the green accents in her transmog).

Soulcloth Shoulders.
Platinum, gold and purple, these match a few different robes, too, and they aren't overly huge. I haven't sold a pair yet, but I'm sure someone will want them.

Soulcloth Vest.

This is a cute vest, especially paired with a White Swashbuckler's Shirt or a Cerulean Filigree Shirt. The pants I found yesterday match really closely, and I'm sure there are other items to match. This would be a very unique look to transmog!

Sure, there is plenty of room in Azeroth for another couple hundred Netherweave Bags. I just don't want to be that boring person! Next I answer the question, "Is there anything in Wrath crafting content worth using for transmog? " Until then, enjoy the sights and sounds of our digital home world. See you next time!

Spider's Silk.

There are many types of spider's silk in the game, but today I was mainly interested in one, the plain old level 20ish Spider's Silk.  There are many items that use this as part of their pattern, most of them tailor patterns. There are three that interest me for transmog.

Robes of Arcana.
These robes used to be an item necessary for a warlock quest, which from what I can tell is also no longer in the game. The pattern is no longer available in game, but the dress is if someone has the pattern or, if you are horde, I guess there are a couple of quests to get this same color and design as a reward.

Lesser Wizard's Robe.
Who wouldn't want a rich looking robe like this?  I'm hoping to sell this for about 150 gold, but may go as low as 75.

Spidersilk Boots.
These boots are the same model as the Silver-Thread Boots, but a lot easier to get. There is a whole set that really goes well with these, but they are also great for their deep black color to just peek out from under a robe.

Spider's Silk is best farmed in the Hillsbrad Foothills from Forest Creepers, unless you are Alliance, in which case you can kill ALL the spiders in the zone. Two of the three most plentiful spider types in the area are Undercity faction, and friendly to the Horde, so Delgada ignored them. The drop rate is rather low, even in this zone where it is highest at about 5%.  Forest Creepers can be found around the edges of hills and near trees.

I looted some fun items while I was farming up enough spider silk to make these items (well, and a few extra for later, too!). Here are some of the notable items I looted.

Bandit Boots.

Darkweave Brieeches.
The boots are a pretty hot seller on most servers, being very black, leather, and they go all the way up!  The pants may not be a huge seller, but the color is gorgeous and they are a rare drop. I also picked up most of the Shimmering Armor set, a few other greens that I listed at really low prices for leveling characters, and a lot of Gooey Spider Legs, Crunchy Spider Legs, and Small Spider Legs, which probably will end up being vendored, since hardly anyone levels cooking in the lower levels these days.

What's next? Fun with Netherweave! Stay tuned...

What Is This For?

I was trying on all the neat things Delgada can make when I came across the instructions to make Argent Shoulders. I'd heard of Mooncloth and Ironweb Spider Silk, but what is a Guardian Stone? Of course, WoWhead is always open on my other screen, so I went to find out. The only information I needed was that it dropped in Un'Goro Crater and I was off.  Stone drops from stone, so I went looking for the stone guardians I knew used to wander near Marshall's Refuge.  Well, they no longer patrol below, they now populate the whole area that used to have quest givers like Muigin and Larion and Linken. It as a little sad going there and not seeing all those beloved old video game friends and quests. The only quest left there is a grave for the pack kodo that loved bloodpetal sprouts. I took my anger at the loss out on the many walking rocks there, who were nice enough to leave behind a good amount of the last item I needed to make those shoulders. I got so many, I decided to see what else I could make or have made with them.

Argent Shoulders and Boots.
These are the two items that I can make as a tailor. If you were fortunate enough to open Knot Thimblejack's Cache as a reward for freeing him from the ogres of Dire Maul before Cataclysm, he also had a rare pattern for a Cloak of Warding. Transmog enthusiasts need not weep, the thing was UGLY, and was really only worth anything to tanks for its high armor rating and dodge. The shoulders are cute, aren't they? The boots aren't fantastic, but if you are hiding them under a robe and need something that color, why not?

Golden Mantle of the Dawn and Dawn Treaders.
Leatherworkers can make these.  I haven't gone looking for gold and silver transmog items for my rogue, but now I know where to find the boots and shoulders!

Black Obsidian Mail and Blackguard.
Blacksmiths have three items. The two pictured above are epic patterns.  The sword is a unique looking model and I would want it for my warrior! The chest piece is forgettable, and the same art as the Wicked Chain Chestpiece, so if you had to pick and choose how to use your materials, I would choose something else.

Hammer of the Titans.
There are four other hammers that share this artwork, but this is the only golden one. If I had a blacksmith, I would try to sell this for transmog purposes.

That's all I have on this odd crafting material. As I go through my recipes and find things to craft, I will share some other odd resources and the great things they make. Until then, I'm going back to pick some bloodpetal sprouts for Dadanga. See you in Azeroth!

Can I Make Gold With Tailoring?

Bryonia the bank alt modeling one of her wares.
I'm trying to break into the transmog market on my server. Tailoring has some gorgeous items that have potential to sell well. Since I have been running Molten Core quite a bit, most of the material needed to make this robe were already sitting, unsold, in my auctions. All I needed was a good supply of Felcloth. Sadly, the old go to area to farm this was changed by the Cataclysm, and I had to find a new place to farm. Dire Maul was tried a while ago, only to make me want to cry out of frustration when I'd come away with one or less per run. The auction house has been pretty dry, so I went to WoWhead to try and find an alternative, and I found one!

Mazthoril, in Winterspring, is a cave with unstable portals to other worlds that spawn demons and ethereals and other wildlife not indigenous to the zone. There are three portals that spawn mobs that drop Felcloth. One of them a single Eredar, one of them two satyr, and the last a small group of imps. I decided I was going to kill everything in the cave, then go back and do it again. The respawn time is short enough that the front of the cave respawns by the time I run back up from the back. Pretty handy! I was able to farm enough cloth and some to spare in the hour I spent in there.

I managed to pick up some pretty shiny things to auction off with the robe. I'll bet you all want to see!  Here is the first thing worth mentioning that I picked up.

WOW!!!

This item is so very sought after! I looked up the item on WoWhead to see what the median going price was for it on the auction house, and it said more than 14,000 gold. I think I have just found my new fun place to hang out! I also picked up an Azure Whelpling (about 8000 gold), Ironhide Pauldrons (about 1500 gold), Praetorian Leggings (about 500 gold), Glorious Shoulder Pads (about 500 gold), Widow Blade (about 150 gold), Overlord's Chestplate (about 150 gold), and a Traveler's Backpack (priceless!). There were a few low level gems, a couple other uncommon weapons, some Runecloth, and a lot of grey items. If you decide to farm in there for more than an hour, I suggest taking along a vendor of some sort to get rid of the piles of claws, teeth, elemental bits, and grey armor and weapons. Gotta have room for the shinies!

There are a couple other robes I can make to sell with Felcloth.

Felcloth Robe
Mooncloth Robe

The Felcloth Robe sells for about 750, but I put my first up for 500 gold. the Mooncloth Robe sells for about 1000 gold quickly, so I put a second one up for 3000 and haven't had any bites. I'm pretty sure when it comes down next time I will relist it for 1000 gold and it will sell.

I have been posting other robes and crafted items up for sale. I plan to post on the success of those items in their own posts, categorized by cloth type used. Hopefully it helps me and someone else make some gold on the auction house!
